Getting Your Web Site Online

If you've been following through these tutorials, then you now should
have a pretty good understanding of how you can create a web site
of your own. I have used many
resources
on the 'Net to create my Webs. Anyone
can create a site with tools downloaded from the 'Net. You can use
some tools online without downloading anything! This section will
explain how getting online can be a lot easier than you thought, and a lot
cheaper.
-
Your Own ISP
Your own ISP may have space available for you to use for your web site as part of their service. Using the tools and tutorials from this web along with your ISP's should have you up in no time. The services available from your ISP may not be all you want, if so you can ask them for an upgrade if you need more e-mail addresses, CGI, or FrontPage extensions, etc.
-
A Free Web Hosting Service
Anyone who uses these site will experience some frustrations: getting a real live person for help is usually not easy. There may be a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) and there may be other users who have a helpful web site or discussion forum on the quirks of the site. Services available will be sparse. Finding a working CGI or even FrontPage or FTP capabilities may be hard. Then there's the Ads - Lot's of intrusive Pop-Ups and Banner Ads. Still, it is Free!
-
Paid Hosting Services
They generally will have everything available (for a price) to make your site stand out. You can expect all the bells and whistles. But help may be a pay by the call proposition.

The Secret
The secret to getting on the web is to just do it! Attention to the small details is the most important lesson any web designer can learn. Understanding these details allows you to make your site that much better. There are many free web hosting services out there and these are actually the simplest to use. Your ISP will gladly help you (for a price) to set up a web site on their servers. Check through my other
tutorials
for more help on creating your own web site. And if you want my help, just
check out my business (I'm pretty inexpensive) at
