Your First Home Page

Have you ever wondered about having your very own homepage?  Yes, that's right, your very own homepage on the World Wide Web!

With a little hard work, creativity and the help of this guide, your very own homepage can quickly become a reality.  By the time you're finished with this guide, people from all over the world will be surfing your site and marveling at your creation.

This Guide

This Guide is divided into three parts.  In the first you will learn how to design your own homepage.  It will discuss such issues as the style, format and content of your homepage, and how to organize multiple "theme" pages.  You'll learn about selecting a title for your homepage and other things you need to know to design a homepage.

In the second section you will learn HTML 3.2.  This markup code is used on the World Wide Web to create web pages.  The page you are looking at right now is in HTML markup. It's very easy to learn; very similar to word processing with such things as paragraphs, headings, line-breaks, bulleted lists, etc.  By the time you finish this section, you will have created your very own homepage, ready to be uploaded to your own on-line space on the World Wide Web.

In the third section you will learn how to get your homepage up on the Web. While the previous two sections taught you how to design and create your homepage, you still need someplace to "host" it.  This section will help you find a Web "hosting service" and show you how to "upload" your homepage to it.  By the time you finish this section, people from around the globe will be viewing your creation!
