The first thing that you should decide upon is a theme for your web site.
You could write about your interests, your family, your job, or anything you
like. If you have a scanner, you could post pictures of yourself.
You could include a list of links to other pages related to your interests.
This type of home page is very personal, very individual, and that's why
it's fun to make.
If you're passionate about music, make a home page about music. You
could include information and pictures of your favorite band, state your
opinions on their music, or collect links to other useful music sites.
If you enjoy cooking, maybe you could post some of your favorite recipes on
your page. The possibilities are endless.
A good way to find themes for your home page is just to look around on
the web. You might see a page that will give you an idea of what you'd
like yours to be about or a way to present it better.
Try to ensure your page has a single overall theme. Don't make half
your page about music, and the other half about cooking. This would
confuse visitors. Instead, make two separate pages, one about music
and one about cooking, and direct people to the proper page from your home
page. The most important thing to remember about a theme for your home
page is to always have one. :-) Without a theme, there's no reason for
a page.
Now you need to determine the Title for your Web site. The Title is
displayed in the "Title Bar" of the Web Browser and is the title of your
site in most search engines and directories. You may want to use your name
and your theme as the title, such as "Peter's Music Page". Look for a
name that is descriptive, unique, short (not over 50 characters or so), and
memorable.
